One week and a day old

That last post had a hard time publishing. We actually brought Hawk home on Friday around 1:00. I was discharged on Wednesday, but the pediatrician wanted to keep Hawk while she waited on some lab work to come back. Thankfully we were able to stay in the hospital the rest of Wednesday and Thursday night. We had to change rooms for Thursday night. I think it was a blessing. Alan and I were able to sleep while Hawk stayed in the nursery. The nurses just brought him into our room to eat.

We went to the pediatrician yesterday and all is well. The little bump she was concerned about is going away on its own and there is nothing to worry about.

Hawk is one week and a day old today!

One of the pictures shows Slug's feet and tale in the doorway. He knows he's not allowed in Hawk's room, but he can still keep watch and be close.

More baby bird photos

We brought Hawk home yesterday. It is very nice to be home and have all 4 of us together. Hawk did so great. He looks like a little baby mannequin with his arms straight out.

Hawk got to meet Austin and Erin last night.

Hawk Photos

Here are some pictures from yesterday and today. All is well!

The red marks are from the birth and are already fading fast.

His blonde hair is so cool!

I think he has Alan's ears and Alan thinks he has my nose.

Hawk Linden is here!

Here is our little cone head - Hawk Arthur Linden.

8lb 2oz, 21" long, born at 5:14 Feb 18

He is healthy with beautiful blonde hair. Everything seems to be going
fine with Hawk and me. Alan was the best coach in the world and we are all
very happy. It was seriously like being coached through a workout and I
couldn't have done it without him.

Name disclaimer:)
Hawk is a name I threw out there when Alan and I were dating and talking
about the future. Alan loved it! I just want to point out that he is not a
tribute to the Iowa Hawkeyes or any thing else sports affiliated. He is
mostly just named after a majestic bird of prey that happens to be the
state bird of Iowa. Arthur is my dad's middle name.

Thank you so much for all of the prayers and encouragement. We are so
blessed and we praise God for him.

We'll see you on the other side

Sing title to Ozzy Osborn song

We've heard so many times that we don't understand because we don't have kids. Well that is about to change. We are crossing over into the world of parenting. Tomorrow we will head to the hospital at 5:00 AM. Kristin (midwife) told me not to expect delivery until after midnight. Alan will be giving updates.

I have a midwife, Kristin Stovern and also Dr. Cheryl Fogarty. They are a team so if one is sick or out of town the other is there. Dr. Fogary will be delivering at Freeman.

Friends and family are welcome to visit us at the hospital. The room is small, so don't be offended if I get overwhelmed or if we have you wait in the waiting room awhile.

Thanks for all the prayers and support. The next time we see you we'll be parents and know so much!

Baby Update

My due date was February 11.  I went to the doctor yesterday and we decided to reschedule the induction for Monday the 18th.  I just don't feel like he's ready to come out yet.  I also need to get over a cold.  So if I don't go into labor by Monday, we'll go into the hospital at 5:00 AM Monday and it will be an all day process.  My doctor told me to not expect delivery until after midnight.  I'm excited for family to come in town and meet Slug's little brother!

We Bought a House

Yes, we bought a house on Thursday, February 7!  We've been looking for a great house for about six months.  We bought a foreclosure in a wonderful neighborhood just north of Missouri Southern. It obviously needs some work.  It has two stories, 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and a nice fenced yard.  Built in 1989, it has a great floor plan and lots of potential.
FAMILY ROOM
I procrastinated a bit on the before pictures.  All of the drywall patches were holes.  I plan on painting (or having someone paint) the brick dark gray.  I would like the brass on the fireplace to be flat black.  The walls will be medium-light gray.  The floors will be dark gray large ceramic tiles.

BREAKFAST NOOK
The kitchen and breakfast nook will be a light turquoise.  We'll redo the whole kitchen later in the year or next year.  There was a built-in desk and other cabinet to the left where the white is on the wall.  They're already gone!

STAIRS AND ENTRYWAY - VIEW FROM FAMILY ROOM
The railing will be replaced with something much better and straight.

FRONT ROOM
The front two rooms have really nice hardwood floors and the walls are decent.  This room will just get paint.

DINING ROOM
Hello wallpaper!  This room is in good shape and a big project.  We'll just leave it for now.  It will be a great place to have tea with the neighbors.

LOOKING DOWN THE STAIRS
I'm glad they ripped up all the carpet.  More gray coming your way.  We picked out gray carpet for the stairs and pretty much the whole upstairs.  Don't worry, I'm not depressed.

1/2 BATH DOWNSTAIRS
I feel bad for this poor little bathroom.  It is covered in wallpaper and it looks like a dog was kept in it all the time.  There is about at 2'x1' hole in the drywall.

MOM REMOVING WALLPAPER IN GUEST BEDROOM
Alan was so sad to see the sports wallpaper go.

MAIN BATHROOM UPSTAIRS
We are just having the tile replaced for now.

MASTER BATHROOM
This will be a future project.  Everything is fine, it's just dated.  There's a shower to the left of the tub.
